Tinkle. Tinkle.

Last weekend, Daddy and Jonas went to the store and bought an Elmo potty seat.

It wasn’t the best week for starting any kind of potty learning, as Jonas came down with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease and was not feeling well. He sat on it a half dozen times or so throughout the week – only when he wanted to.

Today, he actually pottied in the toilet. Yeah! He looked so surprised at first, and we were clapping and cheering as he went. Fifteen minutes later, he wanted to sit on the seat again. He didn’t do anything that time though.

I’m not pushing the potty training. We’ll just take it as it comes, and see how he does. He’s not even 21 months, so I’m not in a hurry. He began occasionally grabbing his diaper a couple weeks ago, and shortly after that, he’d often poop, so I thought maybe he was ready.

I used potty training rewards. The audio and chocolate treats were powerful incentives to fully potty train our son. He loved pushing the button hearing he is a Big Boy. He was peeing and pooping in his potty within a week. I know every child is different, but have a look and see if this would work for you.
