For the past few years, my parents have invited us up to Door County for my mom’s birthday, which is January 2nd. We had perfectly clear, crisp, 27 degree days with snow on the ground and in the trees.
We spent a nice amount of time just relaxing in the condo, which was nice. I haven’t had a chance to just sit down and read for a long time. With two grandparents and Aunt Ali around, that made that possible.
We celebrated Mom’s birthday at Donny’s Glidden Lodge again this year. While I got to enjoy my meal more than last year (Jonas was extremely upset last year, and Ben and I alternated sitting in the car with him the second half of the dinner because he was crying so much), Jonas did not want to sit still, so we had to take turns walking him around. Fortunately, it didn’t seem that people minded.
We had breakfast one morning at Sister Bay Cafe, and Jonas was quite taken with their troll.
We got to spend some time hiking and geocaching again this year, and I found one of the caches.
Ali found one too!
We also took one late evening walk around town to put Jonas to sleep. It was New Years Eve, and we observed two ladies, 50-ish, in long fur coats leaving a restaurant with their dates/husbands, and they were obviously already toasted.
It was a lovely time.
